Biography

Originally from Minneapolis, I graduated from Juilliard in 2012, and went on to perform on stage, screen and behind the mic for a decade in the U.S. Some highlights include 5 seasons recurring on TNT's The Last Ship, which was nominated for a Saturn Award, leads at the Guthrie Theater and St. Louis Rep, and narrating over 15 audiobooks with Harper Collin’s and Scholastic including NYT Best Sellers and Audiofile Earphone Award Winners Pax and Pax Journey Home.

In 2019, I moved to Ireland to earn my MA in Writing at NUI Galway, and since then have continued to act in Europe and the UK. On stage, I most recently performed in   Richard III (Lyric), as well as Granny Jackson’s Dead (Big Telly). Both included in Stage.com's "Top 50 UK Shows of 2024". On screen, I starred in 'NYTVF Best International Comedy Pilot' Compound Fractures with George Wendt, and 'Dances With Films 24’ Best Feature' and 'Crystal Palace 25' Best Feature' The Man Who Saved The Internet With A Sunflower. Most recently, I voiced animated characters in BBC3’s pilot Galaxy Dance, and animated feature Mutant Year Zero.

As a motion capture artist, I've clocked over 100+ hours in an Xsens suit, bringing human and non-human characters to life with companies such as Moonbug Entertainment and Hazimation. Some special skills include fluent French, stage combat, physical comedy, dialects, motion capture, mandolin/bass, singing, and performing heightened text.

  • Richard III

“Chris McCurry’s Stanley and Michael Curran-Dorsano’s Hastings tread lightly as willing clowns aware of their own precarious place in a larger scheme beyond their influence.” - BritishTheatreGuide.com

  • Richard III

“Hastings’ betrayal was cruel, and well executed, as was he. Michael Curran-Dorsano acted the credulous lord believably.” - Belfast Times

  • A Christmas Carol

“Hands down, though, this year's VIPs are the Cratchits… Michael Curran-Dorsano plays Bob with apt modesty. Add a rotating cast of kids bursting with life, and you have a Cratchit clan that feels like a family you know, not just a pathos-laden tableau for Scrooge to peruse.” - City Pages

  • Small Mouth Sounds

“Michael Curran-Dorsano is heartbreaking as Ned- his name tag a sign of his hunger to make connections. He conveys the whole heart with which he has leapt into this experience, the desperate desire for it to make a difference in his life.” - Talkin' Broadway

  • Traitor's Game

“Michael Curran-Dorsano portrays Simon, one of the kidnappers responsible for controlling Kestra. Simon has history with her family, and Curran-Dorsano depicts him with the perfect mix of anger, passion, and vulnerability. Listeners will anxiously await the next book in this epic adventure.” - Audiofile Magazine

  • Pax Journey Home

“Michael Curran-Dorsano transitions seamlessly between timeframes and points of view. A year after Pax and Peter's separation, Curran-Dorsano recounts Pax's joyful welcoming of fox cubs into the world. But his tone for Peter, now an orphan, reflects the boy's sadness and confusion. When Peter joins Water Warriors, a group bent on repairing the war's ecological damage, Curran-Dorsano reflects his surprise at encountering young people who can love after loss. Eventually, Pax is brought back into the life of his boy, and Peter is impacted by Pax's trust and love. The story and its narration make for a poignant sequel.” - Audiofile Magazine
